Bella, my sweet Isabella.. So young so full of life
What must you be thinking as you’re loosing all your sight?
Those beautiful big brown eyes and those ears that stand so tall
You love and play so freely as if nothings wrong at all
My heart just breaks in pieces knowing cards that you’ve been dealt
Maybe I’d feel better if I knew just how you felt
Unconditional love pours over not fearing future dark
Your courage so amazing on the things you will embark
You love me in your heart not just through your weary eyes
I’ll use that as a comfort when sight finally says good bye
I can feel your calm beside me saying it will be okay
We’ll get through this together as we snuggle love and play
Some say that this awful and really really sad
Living with a dog whose sight is going bad
I tell them you have taught me to be brave and to be strong
To focus on what matters not what some consider wrong
There will be many challenges the day that we all dread
But loving you comes easy and we will forge ahead
When your eyes fail you completely and you no longer see
You’ll be safe here with your family right where you were meant to be

Please excuse the "title" it's so blunt so it can be searched by people going through similar issues:)
Keep up the good work, Paris would be proud!
ReplyDeleteIf you want you can put Paris's blog under your
site list.
www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com
Maybe it would help someone like it did you. I'll be checking in!
Hi! I'm so sorry I haven't got back to you. My blog has been giving me issues
ReplyDelete:( I wasnt able to reply on yours and/or reply on mine...gah
I'm on my husbands laptop now and hopefully it works)
Thank you for the kind words, I hope you are feeling better.
Great idea! I will put Paris's blog on my list! Thank you<3
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI too have a blind fur baby. He went blind from SARDS (sudden acquired retinal disfunction) on Christmas Eve 2010 and it really broke my heart to see it happen to him. I went as far as to ask god to make me blind instead of him because I could at least understand what was happening. Animals are too innocent for such disabilities!
But things are going a bit better since that day. I'm happy to say that there are more good days than bad, but in the beginning it was tough for him. Just over a year being blind and he only gets lost or confused once in a while - still bumps into things lots but he doesn't get frustrated about it anymore. I did find much comfort and inspiration from a wonderful lady and her blind wonderdog (I'm crying as I write that) and I hope your beautiful little Bella can show her mom and the world that she can do it too!
Go Bella!!!
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words:)
I'm glad your baby is doing better! I does help connecting with others who understand. My blog was inspired by Paris (I think thats who you were talking about) Seems like we all need people who can inspire us and have a common ground. Thank you for the email.
I hope you continue to follow. I did, however, redo my blog on a different site because I've had so many issues looging on to my posts.
The new site is: http://blinddogretinaldetachment.wordpress.com
I will be keeping this one up for a while, but updating on the new one. Hope to chat again:) Thank you, Pam
